gm_160x120Looking to increase production of its Chevrolet Equinox and other  models that are selling well, General Motors said it is bringing more than 100 workers back to work at its Warren Transmission plant in Michigan.

The company said strong sales for the Equinox, Chevy Traverse, Buick LaCrosse and other models is leading to an increase in demand for parts. Many of the returning workers began Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Plant Manager Dave Tatman announced the move in a press release.

“Increased market demand for our great vehicles is driving expansion of our production operations. Additional jobs will allow us to grow the business, while meeting increasing customer demand for our hot products,” said Dave Tatman, Warren plant manager.

According to the Free Press, sales of the Equinox in the first three months of the year are up 130 percent compared to the same period last year.  Sales of the LaCrosse are up 197%.
