wind turbineIn an executive order today, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter directed state agencies to track job creation, writes Bloomberg Businessweek.  The order comes after weeks of pressure and criticism from Colorado lawmakers and jobseekers.

The governor has been under increasing fire most recently over his energy economy programs.  Both the legislature and constituents have expressed skepticism over its efficacy.  The issuance of the order, according to Businessweek, has not quelled the doubts of lawmakers on the Republican side of the aisle.

The initiatives, according to Ritter, have or will create “2,500 jobs from Denmark-based Vestas Wind Systems, which made Colorado its North American manufacturing hub, and 700 jobs from SMA Solar, which is opening a manufacturing plant in Colorado this summer, its first outside Germany.”   Ritter spoke last week of this potential influx of jobs to the Centennial state in Washington, DC.
