The Civic Center of Anderson announced the commencement of a First Quality Tissue manufacturing facility in Anderson County, South Carolina today. A tax incentive was passed Friday allowing the New York company to establish a plant in Anderson County, which may open up over 1,500 new jobs.  According to the Charleston Regional Business Journal, because of the quality infrastructure, work ethic, business environment, low energy costs and other characteristics of Anderson County, First Quality Tissue has decided to invest $1 billion and hire 1,000 workers in order to build the plant. This economical development also includes a possible 550 additional positions for the construction of the plant. This is the largest single investment Anderson County has ever seen. The hiring process is said to begin in the third quarter of 2010, and the company is anticipating to employ 200 this summer. Initial Operations of the manufacturing plant begin in 2011.
