newjerseyflag_160x120Per the Philadelphia Inquirer, New Jersey added 10,500 jobs in April.  The information was published by the New Jersey Department of Workforce and Labor.

Job findings occurred in both the public and private sectors.  According to the Inquirer, unemployment numbers remained flat because many that have begun to look for jobs have still yet to find them and for statistical purposes, these job hunters are considered unemployed.  The fact that many that were not or had given up on looking for employment have now started to look again is significant.

New Jersey’s economy, like most states’, has struggled during the past 18 months and as recently as December had seen a 4.4 percent decline in employment.  Those figures started to improve in the new year.
