Intuit Report Shows Job Gains In Small Business Sector

MarketWatch: According to the most recent Intuit Small Business Employment Index, small businesses added close to 25,000 new jobs this month bringing the total of new jobs in that sector to 240,000 since last October.  The figures were compiled from small business customers who use Intuit’s payroll software services.

The index, according to MarketWatch, also showed that while pay rates rose slightly, the overall hours worked decreased.  If its true that American small businesses drive the U.S. economy, these figures showing modest yet steady growth could serve as a reflection of the economy as a whole.   In any case, let’s hope small business will continue to be a driving force behind the creation of better, higher paying jobs in the coming months.
