According to a Wall Street Journal report, economists had projected private-sector jobs to increase by 60,000 in June. In a sliver of good news, ADP revised its May numbers to show a gain of 57,000, which was up from the 55,000 that was first reported.

Large businesses, defined as having at least 500 employees, added 3,000 workers in June. Medium-sized businesses added 11,000 workers and small businesses, which employ fewer than 50 workers, cut payroll by 1,000.

The report also reveals service-sector jobs increased by 30,000 last month and factory jobs increased by 16,000.
