Berkshire Health Systems to Lay Off 124
Post Views 0Berkshire Health Systems on Friday informed employees at its Pittsfield, New York medical center that 124 positions would be eliminated by the end of September. The layoffs represent about 4.6% of Berkshire’s 2,700-person payroll. Those laid off will include nurses and technicians.
Berkshire blamed the layoffs on a falling number of patients at the facility and lower reimbursements from health insurance.
It’s been a difficult twelve months for Berkshire, which cut 65 positions in September of last year. Due to decreased patient volume, revenue is down $11 million from the previous year.
