Human Resource Executive Names Google’s Laszlo Bock as HR Exec of the Year

lazloLaszlo Bock, Google‘s Human Resources Executive, was named the 2010 Human Resource Executive of the Year by Human Resource Executive, the leading Human Resources busines magazine.  David Shadovitz, the editor of Human Resource Executive, said, “The HR Executive of the Year award recognizes human resource leaders who have made outstanding contributions to their organizations and who exemplify the increasingly strategic role of HR in business today.”

Bock, Google’s first Human Resource leader, joined the company in 2006, when Google was capitalizing on its explosive and innovative growth.  Bock addressed Google’s human resource challenges using what he calls the “Three Thirds Model” which has significantly helped the company with its standing as an innovator.  The “Three Thirds Model” utilizes a breakdown of traditional human resource professionals, strategic-consulting professionals, and a third of advanced education analytical professionals.

The judges for the 2010 Human Resource Executive of the Year use a set of criteria that includes analyzing the candidate’s handling of daunting problems or obstacles in the field, the candidate’s success in turning human resources into a pivotal part of the organization, the candidate’s management skills in relation to human resourecs, and their contribution to the human resources profession.
