Union Works for Grocery Workers
Post Views 0The United Food and Commercial Workers union, representing 62,000 grocery workers in California, holds a contract with Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons. The stores are requiring a contribution from workers for healthcare coverage at $9 a week for individual and $23 a week for a family, which is not acceptable by the workers. This has led to call a strike by the union which is favored by over 90% of votes from workers. Meanwhile negotiations are going on upon failure of which a strike will become unavoidable.
