San Antonio, Texas has been named one of the best cities for finding employment. The director of San Antonio’s SABER Research Institute has said, “Our unemployment rate (8.1 percent) is still relatively high, but it is also relatively low compared to other cities.” Citizens of San Antonio can be proud that their city is one that strives itself on rebuilding after dealing with the drastic economy.

While unemployment rates have been at an all time high in the United States since the economy went downhill in 2007, San Antonio employment seems to be increasing at a steady rate. While the unemployment rate is still higher than the city would like it to be, the fact that the employment rate is increasing and the unemployment rate is decrease shows that some serious progress is being made.

San Antonio has been one of the only cities in the United States that has gained all of its lost jobs back since the economy went downhill. When the economy went down in 2007, many jobs were lost which left thousands of individuals in San Antonio unemployed and without a job. Because of the recession, unemployment rates were at a considerably high rate in San Antonio and other states all over the United States. As years have passed by since the beginning of the downfall, the economy is beginning to get better, and so are the job opportunities for the citizens of San Antonio. San Antonio has been one of the main cities that was able to recover quite rapidly from the recession.

Tourists have managed to help the city of San Antonio immensely. Because of the tourists who chose to visit, the city was able to continue to thrive and improve during the recession. Because of the recession, tons of tourists chose San Antonio for their travel destination. The cost of staying in San Antonio is much more affordable than some of the other popular travel destinations. Since so many tourists headed to San Antonio for their vacation, the city was able to earn a substantial amount of money.

Some of the most consistent job industries in San Antonio are construction jobs, medical and health-related jobs, computer and engineering jobs, and military jobs. Students who are just attending college may want to take these professions into consideration since they are currently in demand. San Antonio is also the home of many popular colleges. Thousands of students attend college each year at well-known colleges such as The University of Texas at San Antonio and Texas A&M University. With such a strong emphasis on work and school ethic, San Antonio is a great place to live, work, go to school, and possibly even start a business.
