Find a job has become a difficult challenge, but every day people ARE getting jobs. So what is their secret? Given the current 8.6 percent unemployment rate, there continues to be five to six million jobs available on the market at any point in time that remain to be filled. What is keeping you from having one of them?

Maybe you should try what the Denver Broncos quarterback does. He has had a new term coined after him called “Tebowing,” referencing his tactic of using his spiritual faith to provide guidance and direction during his games. He must be doing something right as he has led the team to their sixth consecutive win since come onto the team. He is becoming quite the legend. So what is the secret to his success and how can you apply his secret to your job search and come out a winner?

First of all, stay committed. No matter if you have been searching for a job for one week or half a year, make sure you have the amount of commitment it takes to seek out that right job for you. Your commitment will be reflected in setting aside ample time per week to search for a job and in the fact that you will not stop until you have done so. Tebow usually leads his team to victory in the last minutes of the game. As the end approaches and Tebow has not reached his goal of winning the game, he becomes increasingly determined to come out victorious in the end. In the pursuit of victory, Tebow’s teammates experience his excitement and the energy produced gives his team that energy boost necessary at the end of the game to persevere and come out a winner.

Secondly, do not allow other people to bring you down. There are many reasons you will not get a job you apply and qualify for. Well-meaning family and friends may try to console you that you were just not meant to have that certain job. But, don’t give up! Knowing and believing that you are capable and deserving of that job may just give you the confidence boost you need to impress the interviewer. Tebow has been criticized by the media for now being experienced enough to serve in the team quarterback position. Now, however, he has exceeded the media’s expectations. What does this say about him? Tebow didn’t break, didn’t back down, and it only made him a stronger adversary and even more determined to succeed despite his detractors.

Lastly, do not sell out your integrity for a job. The point of integrity is to stay true to your own inner moral compass. Therefore, do not accept a job that will be at odds with your moral character or call your ethics or integrity into question. Look for a job you can be passionate about that honors your belief system. Tebow is never after to show exactly how he believes even in the face of critics, and he never waves from the stand he has taken.
