The governing board for the University of Virginia has decided to meet in the coming week for a discussion on the President of the University, Teresa Sullivan. Earlier on in the month, Sullivan was immediately dismissed from her position, which ultimately caused a whole lot of pandemonium and controversy within the university and all along the campus. Sullivan has a large number of supporters and many of them gathered together in support of her, against her dismissal. Those who did support her and were on the board of visitors asked to have a meeting set up because they believe they have enough people willing to vote for Sullivan to be reinstated to her position.

At some point next week, the board will gather together to discuss the possibility of allowing her to come back to her position and also change some of the terms that go along with employment for the position of president for the University. The decision to set up the meeting came after a series of protests took place. Amongst the protestors were faculty members, staff, students and even people who had recently graduated from the university, as they did not agree with Sullivan being removed from her position. Because of the forced dismissal, Sullivan was scheduled to leave her position on the 15th of August but because of the support she has received by so many different people, it is possible that it will no longer have to happen and there is a chance that she will be able to keep her position.

Earlier on in the week, the leader for the board, Rector Helen E. Dragas, said that she believed it was necessary to replace Sullivan and that it was important to take a different perspective on who would be the leader for the university, especially so that they would be able to address any issues and challenges that the university faces and handle them in an appropriate and efficient manner while also setting up a new plan, one that will actually work in favor of the university. In the meantime, some board members disagree. The former governor, Timothy M. Kaine, is one of those who disagreed and believes Sullivan should remain President of the university. He believes that Sullivan should be reinstated and should not be forced to resign. Sullivan also said that she wanted to continue being president for the university, as long as there are certain needs that are being met within the university. Sullivan remained in a positive state, even with the controversy going on and continued to ask her many supporters to stay positive during their protests for her reinstatement without having to use any foul language or inappropriate behavior.
