Jobless claims hint at firming job market conditions

It has to be accepted that slowly but steadily the U.S. economy is picking up, which is what has got reflected in the reduced number of new claims filed for unemployment benefits compared to the last week. In fact, last week’s drop in claims exceeded economists’ expectations for only a 6,000 decline and pushed first-time filings down to the lower end of their range for this year.
