Summary: We have put together a list of reasons why you were not offered employment following an interview with a company in this post.

You recently attended a job interview, but have been waiting anxiously for a call back from the hiring manager. It has gotten to the point where you might think about moving on and applying for other jobs. Depending on the length of time following the interview, it might be time to forget about that one and begin a new job search. We have a list of reasons why you did not receive a call back following an interview in this post.

Interview Occurred with Fewer People

You might have been told over the phone that you would be meeting with three people from the same department during your first interview. Then, when the time comes, you only meet with one of the three people. This is a very bad reason why you were not offered employment.

Interview is Cut Short

Another reason why you did not receive an offer of employment is that your interview was cut short. You were told beforehand that the interview would last at least 30 minutes, but after only 15 minutes the interviewer cut it short. This is a very bad sign.

Interviewer Just Going through the Motions

Maybe you received an interview with a company as a favor for someone you know. If this is the case, the interviewer might only be going through the motions during the interview. This is another bad sign.

Interviewer Emphasizes Skill you Do Not Have

A really bad sign here is when the interviewer keeps on emphasizing a skill that you obviously do not have. If this is the case, you definitely will not be receiving a call back from the hiring manager.

Failed to Research the Company

If you attend a job interview with little or no information in your brain about the company, then you will not succeed. The interviewer is definitely going to ask you what you know about the company and if you cannot answer the question, then you will not receive a return call.

Asked about Vacation

If you asked about the vacation policy during the first or subsequent interviews, this could be a big reason why you were not called back by the hiring manager. They want to meet with someone who is willing to come to work each day and do their best, not someone simply looking for benefits.

Interviewer is Vague with Next Steps

When the interviewer is being very vague at the end of the interviewer about the next steps, it is likely you will not be receiving a call back from him or her.
