The principal of Saratoga High School, Jeff Anderson, has received a promotion. The school board members have voted and decided to promote Anderson to the position of assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and human resources. The high school is now looking for a replacement for Anderson because when the school year is over, he will no longer be principal and will start his superintendent position. However, in the meantime, Anderson will continue to be principal of the school until the school year is completed.

Bob Mistele, the superintendent, has said, “We’ve got a big job to fill his shoes.” Mistele believes that Anderson is a great principal but will also be great as the assistant superintendent.

Anderson is very thankful for the board vote, which leads him with a new position in the coming school year. However, he admits that the new position will be bittersweet because while he is looking forward to the new position, leaving his position as a principal will definitely be tough on him. Anderson has been the principal of Saratoga since 2005 and has been working as an educator for nearly 25 years.

The District officials listed a number of reasons as to why Anderson was chosen for the new assistant superintendent position. They believe Anderson has worked hard to improve learning for the students of the high school and that he has put a lot of effort into creating a comfortable environment for all of the staff members at the high school.

Anderson will take on his new role on July 1st and says that he would like to get to know all of the staff members of Los Gatos. He says, “It’s easy to get to both school sites.” He also says, “Being involved in two high schools is going to be more fun than one.”

The retired assistant superintendent of Campbell Union High School, Patti Gregory, will be helping to mentor Anderson as he makes the transition from principal to assistant superintendent.

Aside from Anderson being promoted, there have been a few changes for Los Gatos High School and the plan to put up new bleachers. The assistant superintendent for business services, Tom Woodruff, says, “School staff believe they need 1,800 seats on the home side and would rather forgo seats on the visitors side.” The first plan was 1,500 home seats, with 500 visitor seats. Woodruff also pointed out that the band needs an entire section of bleachers.

The new plan would be to keep the visitors sitting amongst temporary bleachers, which will cost $5,000. The principal of Los Gatos High, Markus Autrey, says, “We do have to have visitors bleachers, but we could rent them for the next two decades.” It seems that this plan will work out well.
