Colton School District to Cut 52
Post Views 3California’s Colton Joint Unified School District could lose 52 certificated employees this year, due to proposed state cuts in education funding. Certificated employees include teachers, counselors and principals.
The school board this week will consider sending layoff notices to employees.
District officials must cut $6.5 million in expenditures to prepare for state cuts.
The cuts would affect 20 elementary school teachers, six counselors and two principals. All layoffs would take effect July 1st.
Furlough days, early retirement incentives and hiring freezes are all being considered to avoid layoffs.
