Cincinnati Braces for Hundreds of Layoffs

A drop in tax income is spurring the city of Cincinnati to consider laying off hundreds of city workers.

City officials project a deficit of $28 million for 2009, up from an earlier estimate of $20 million.

Cincinnati may also reduce call center hours, review consultant contracts and limit supplies. Department heads have been instructed to consider staff layoffs.
