toyotaToyota has begun taking applications for jobs at its assembly plant in Blue Spring, Miss. The company hopes to fill 1,350 production and maintenance jobs at the facility.

“Today is the day we pull the trigger,” Gov. Haley Barbour said while officially announcing the recruitment drive.

A Toyota spokesperson said experience isn’t necessary in the manufacturing department, adding“we can train anybody to do a production job.

“You don’t ever have to have to worked in an auto company, you don’t even have to have worked in a manufacturing company,” Toyota’s David Copenhaver told Wtva.com. “We do all that training ourselves. For the maintenance people, they do have to have some experience.”

The hiring process could take up to a year, but as Copenhaver added, “don’t wait if you want a job.  Because it won’t be open forever.”

Interested job seekers must fill out an online application.
