Older Americans are Working Now More than Ever

Despite the recession, there are more people over 55 in the workforce than expected. This is due to several factors, primarily the shift away from pension plans with a set retirement date to 401k plans and other savings methods. Older people are increasingly concerned with having sufficient funds to live comfortably through their retirement years. The changes in how Social Security and retirement plans work have reduced the advantages to retiring early.
