More Job Cuts For Health Workers in Pennsylvania
Post Views 0
A hospital in southwestern Pennsylvania has to cut 47 jobs in order to compensate for a loss of investment income and having few patients throughout the recession.
Memorial Medical Center, which employs about 3,700 people, is located in Johnstown, PA. The jobs which are likely to be cut are those of the support staff.
There is some potential good news, however. The hospital’s parent company, Conemaugh Health System, may be able to provide work for some of the laid off employees at its other facilities.
An interesting note: no nursing jobs have been cut at the hospital.
Hospital officials say they will be using many methods to save money, such as delaying capital improvements, reducing expenses on supplies, consulting fees and printing costs.
