New Senator Gillibrand to Concentrate on Job Creation

Kirsten Gillibrand and New York Governor David Paterson will share the stage Monday as the state congresswoman presents her Mid-Hudson Valley Economic Summit. The governor will be the keynote speaker.

Gillibrand, a Democrat from Hudson, was tapped by Paterson on Friday to fill Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s vacant US Senate seat.

The summit, which was planned before the announcement, will focus on creating jobs in the agribusiness and energy sectors. It will include a panel discussion on how market incentives and government policies can create new jobs and encourage innovative technologies.

The event will also feature breakout sessions with panels to discuss energy and agribusiness. Representatives from businesses, organizations and government agencies will be on the panels.
