Best Buy to Lay Off Undisclosed Amount at Minneapolis Headquarters

bestbuyOne of America’s largest electronics retailers Best Buy Co., said on Tuesday that it would be laying off employees at its Minneapolis headquarters.

Employees were notified on Tuesday, but further details about the layoffs won’t be released until February 19, said spokeswoman for the Best Buy, Sue Busch Nehring, in an email.
Best Buy has not revealed any information regarding the quantity of jobs that will be lost, nor which types of jobs would be lost.

The electronics retailer did, however, say that around 500 of it’s nearly 4,000 Minneapolis employees had accepted voluntary exit packages.

Those unlucky employees who lose their jobs next month will stay employed for at least 30 days after being notified of the involuntary layoff.

Nehring also said that some new jobs would be created as a part of this process.
