barack_obamaIn a memo released on Wednesday, The Obama administration announced that its economic stimulus package will create 74,000 job in Arizona, according the White House. They also said that nearly as many as 2 million people in Arizona will qualify for a tax cut up to $1,000.

The bill is still making its way through the senate, where although the Democrats have a majority, do not have the 60 seats it would take to block Republican intervention.

The package consists of $825 billion in spending on public works, military construction, energy and scientific research, broadband depoloyments, water infrastructure, and money for schools, universities and states facing severe financial difficulties.

The stimulus will also grant tax credits for lower income and lower middle class families and businesses that are creating jobs. 75,000 Arizona families would be eligible for new college tax credits in the plan. Unemployment benefits would also be raised by $100, which sounds like good news for the more than 200,000 unemployed in the state.
