Auto parts maker Tenneco has cut 82 jobs from its Hartwell, Georgia plant.

The Lake Forest, Illinois firm has postponed a decision on whether to close any of its three original equipment ride control plants, including the Hartwell facility.

Tenneco is one of the world’s largest producers of automotive emission control and ride control products and systems. The Hartwell plant, which supplies shock absorbers to automakers including Ford and General Motors now employs 212 workers.

Earlier this year, the Hartwell plant temporarily laid off 125 employees, but they came back to work by the end of January. The 82 jobs were permanently eliminated February 1st.

The company froze 2009 salaries.
