Pearl HarborPearl Harbor Naval Shipyard has scheduled a job fair to fill 180 positions this month.

The job fair is scheduled for March 28th, from 8:30 am to noon, at Honolulu Community College.

Shipyard officials plan to hire at least 100 apprentice positions in January 2010, and up to 80 engineering positions.

Those who enter the apprenticeship spend four years in work-study programs that pay trainees while they earn an associate’s degree. Pay starts at $18.30 an hour. At the end of four years an apprentice can earn $27 or more an hour.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old by January 10th, 2010; a US citizen and a high school graduate. They must also pass a physical and academic test.
