Firefighter’s Union To Save 10 Jobs

A new deal between the city of Elyria, Ohio and its firefighter’s union will save 10 firefighter jobs.

The 10 firefighters were among 34 full-time city employees who were expected to lose their jobs yesterday.

The city announced a tentative agreement with the Elyria Firefighter’s Union, whose members agreed to return bonuses, saving the city $250,000 and allowing it to keep the positions and leave all of its fire stations open.

The city and union officials are expected to meet next week to approve the deal.
