New Mexico Lost 12,200 Jobs in 2008

State job growth from February 2008 to February 2009 was negative 1.4%, a loss of 12,200 jobs. That is the lowest rate for New Mexico since 1961.
Only two industries saw growth — education and health services expanded by 4,500 jobs, and local government grew by 2,400 jobs, mainly at tribal casinos.
