Arizona flagA recycling facility in Arizona’s West Valley will create over 100 jobs, and bring in an additional $100,000 in solid-waste revenue per year.

Waste Management of Arizona is breaking ground on the new plant in Surprise, Arizona.

The operation allows customers to dump their recyclables into one bin, leaving the sorting to magnets and optical scanners.

One hundred temporary construction jobs, and as many as 35 facility jobs, will be created.

Waste Management pays Surprise $8 per ton of recyclables, equaling about $65,000 a year. However, once the new facility is operational, the payment rate will increase to $20, or $165,000 a year.

The 65,000 square-foot facility will process up to 150,000 tons of recyclables per year.
