The parent company of Tinseltown rag Daily Variety, Reed Business, is cutting 7% of its total workforce, which translates to 15 jobs at the magazine.

Among those laid off are executive news editor Michael Speier, and assistant managing editor Dade Hayes.

Variety is a weekly entertainment trade newspaper founded in New York in 1905 by Sime Silverman. Daily Variety, a daily edition based in Hollywood, was founded by Silverman in 1933.
