Ohio Chrysler Plant May Shut Down, Lay Off 1,000

Chrysler is considering shutting down a stamping plant in Twinsburg, Ohio, putting 1,000 people out of work by 2010.

Twinsburg Mayor Katherine Procop and state officials are establishing a task force to provide skills assessment and retraining for affected workers, and attempt to find a new tenant for the factory.

Chrysler plans to shut eight plants by March 2010, including the Twinsburg facility. Forty-eight hundred workers will be affected nationwide.
