The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lost 17,300 jobs in April. However, but the state’s unemployment rate remained flat at 7.8%.

The national unemployment rate rose to 8.9% last month.

Pennsylvania’s total non-farm employment fell to 5,655,000, the lowest since August 2004.

The Keystone State has lost 161,900 since April 2008.
