Shelby County, TN to Cut 21

Shelby County, Tennessee has told the state it intends to lay off 21 employees.

The county has not detailed which departments have been targeted.

Between February and June 2009, Shelby County laid off 225 people.

Founded in 1819, Shelby County, Tennessee is the state’s largest both in terms of population and geographic area. Its county seat is Memphis. Its population was 909,000 in 2005.
