Washington DC Police to Gain, Preserve 50 Jobs
Post Views 0The Justice Department is directing more than $12 million in stimulus funds to the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, to create or preserve 50 law enforcement jobs.
The money comes from the Community Oriented Policing Services program, or COPS. The city received the largest allowed grant, due to high crime and rampant unemployment in the capitol.
Nationally, COPS is spending $1 billion to create or save 4,700 law enforcement jobs.
