High Unemployment Rate Here To Stay In Massachusetts

The president of the Massachusetts Senate, Therese Murray, has come out with grim projections in regards to layoffs. In fact, the next few months, according to Murray will be marred by layoffs and budget cuts resulting from a $1 billion dollar budget gap.

“I see months ahead of cuts, program elimination, layoffs and big holes,” Murray said. “This is going to be slow and steady, with high unemployment for quite awhile. So cities and towns have to figure out how they’re going to survive through that, and they’re going to have to do some economizing also.”

A Beacon Hill hearing on the budget will take place on Thursday.
