go_up_graphA new survey in New England found that 42% of respondents are planning on hiring new employees for their small and mid-sized businesses. This amount has increased from last year, where 29% of respondents planned to make new hires.

The survey was conducted by Insight Performance, Inc. a human resources consulting firm, and the Smaller Business Association of New England, a not-for-profit association of 800 members throughout New England. The survey also found that 43% of businesses are planning base-pay increases in 2010, compared with 29% last year. The survey sampled small and mid-sized New England companies with fewer than 50 employees and revenues of $20 million or less.
