Dollar General Adding 5,000 New Jobs

dollar generalDollar General, which added 4,000 jobs in 2009, is continuing to expand. The ‘small-box’ discount retailer plans to add 600 stores and create 5,000 jobs over the next 12 months, according to a company press release.

Dollar General currently has more than 8,800 stores and its 78,000 employees make it one of the largest employers in the nation.

“Despite today’s tough economic climate…we are aggressively recruiting job seekers,” said Bob Ravener, senior vice president.

Dollar General has been in existence for over 70 years and is the nation’s largest retailer with stores in 35 states.
