Jackson Health Terminates 21 Employees

Jackson Health System in Miami, which is facing a more than $200 million budget deficit, laid off 21 employees Tuesday. The cuts included one attending position and 20 nurse management positions, according to local reports.

Predictably, the layoffs have angered union officials. The Union president said the “real’ problem with the hospital is bill collecting and that hospital officials should first focus on solving that problem before resorting to layoffs.

The cuts effectively eliminated the middle management in a critical care unit, union President Martha Baker told WSVN-TV.
