southcarolina_160x120ResMed Corp., a California-based medical equipment manufacturer, is relocating its east coast distribution hub to Duncan, S.C. that will bring 50 new jobs to the area.

The company plans to invest $3 million on a new distribution center that will expand ResMed’s capabilities. Hiring will begin at the start of the company’s fiscal year in June and will continue through June 2011, according to local reports.

“We are very excited about the move to Spartanburg County where we will be in a facility that allows us to consolidate our East Coast operations and gives us the ability to expand,” said Ric Wonders, ResMed’s vice president of operations.

“The larger facility gives us room to grow, as the South Carolina facility houses one of our largest U.S. distribution centers. This location also offers us closer access to major highways and ports that will expedite the transport of our products and lower transportation costs.”

ResMed is considered a leading in providing medical equipment that helps with sleep-disorder breathing and other respiratory disorders. The company sells products to more than 70 countries through direct offices and a network of distributors, according to its Web site.
