Bio-Tech Company Adding 90 Jobs in Maryland

qiagenBio-tech company Qiagen will add 90 full-time jobs by 2015 at its North American headquarters in Germantown, Md., the company said Monday.

Qiagen, which provides sample and assay technologies, plans to invest $52 million for the project, which will 117,000 square feet of new manufacturing space and new office space to its corporate campus.

The company plans to break ground this fall and expects the project to be completed by 2012. Total square footage at the facility will be 347,000 upon completion.

The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) provided a $700,000 conditional loan through the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF). Montgomery County also provided a $300,000 grant through its Economic Development Fund.

Qiagen has nearly 700 employees state-wide, 1,150 U.S. employees, and 3,500 workers worldwide.
