michiganflag_160x120State officials in Michigan approved tax breaks for 10 corporate projects statewide that’s expected to create thousands of jobs.

Among the beneficiaries were GalaxE Solutions, a New Jersey-based software company, which was granted $4.6 million worth of tax breaks over five years for a new facility in downtown Detroit that will create 500 jobs.

Others receiving incentives were Minacs Group USA, which got $9.1 million in tax breaks over four years for a project that would include call centers and other services in Southfield; and Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, a Flint Township-based company that will receive $61.5 million in tax credit over 18 years.

When announcing the projects, Gov. Jennifer Granholm noted their diversity, which is an effort to bring Michigan beyond its manufacturing roots.

“Our aggressive diversification strategy is paying off,” Granholm said. “Very few places have the one-two punch of a competitive business climate and highly skilled work force like Michigan that can attract new investment.”

The awards were approved by the Michigan Economic Growth Authority.
