CODA Plans Electric Car Battery Plant For Columbus

auto partsPending a pay out of US Department of Energy and state funds, CODA Automotive announced its plans to open a lithium ion battery plant in Columbus, Ohio.  Per a Mercury News post, the deal could bring over 1,000 jobs to the area.  Although far from certain, the potential new plant would be a significant gain for the region.

Headquartered in Santa Monica, California, CODA Automotive is a leader in the field of green transportation.  With its network of global partners, CODA has developed and licensed a purpose-built, automotive grade battery pack that allows for a zero emission car with a 100 mile per charge range.  CODA plans to release its first sedan in 2011.
