Baylor College of Medicine said in an internal memo last week that it plans to cut an unspecified number of administrative positions in an attempt to streamline its operations.

According to a report in the Houston Business Journal, Baylor College of Medicine has struggled with its finances for years. The medical facility currently has 1,440 administrative positions that costs $118 million a year in salary and benefits.

The plan, which President Dr. Paul Klotman described as “rightsizing”, is designed to save $15 million to $20 million a year. It will include cutting certain positions, combining others and sharing positions across departments, the Houston Business Journal reports.
