Florida Job Projection: One Million Over Seven Years

State economists have predicted that a minimum of one million new jobs will be created in Florida over the next seven years.

“Our belief is that there is nothing that has changed about Florida, its attraction to other states and other countries and that we’re slowly heading back to that same pace,” said coordinator of the Legislature’s Office of Economic and Demographic Research, Amy Baker. “Over the long run there’s still significant growth in our forecast.”

The forecast was based on a larger national projection performed last week and comes despite the housing market in Florida being worse off than average, due partly to their exceptionally high foreclosure rates.
