Scranton_logo Scranton Manufacturing Co. Inc., a Greene County-based premier supplier of waste equipment, announced plans to move its operations by purchasing the Worldcolor building in Carroll, Iowa.  The expansion is expected to bring about 25 new jobs to the area and to cost the company over $1 million.

The project is still under negotiation. Once the project is sealed, the Carroll move would entail shutting down one of the company’s facilities in Atlantic. Scranton Manufacturing officials are still discussing the details and they plan to release its decision within two weeks time. The company currently employs about 200 staff as of today.

President Michael McLaughlin said that the company wants to start its operations in Carroll as soon as possible. “Our goal is to be up and running by April 1, should the Carroll deal work out for the company.”

The Carroll Area Development Corporation Executive director, Jim Gossett, hopes that the Carroll move will push through because it will help boost the city’s local employment. “The company is in the process of gauging the workforce in the area, a major component in the decision. Should the company finalize its plans and choose Carroll for the expansion the economic impact will be tremendous.”

Scranton Manufacturing is one of the leaders in manufacturing small to medium-sized refuse compactors in America. The company continuously exceeds its client’s expectation by producing innovative quality products and consistently breaking new ground in the trash collection industry by developing new products and services.
