According to the CEO of Showa Denko Carbon, Robert Whitten, the extra jobs reflects hundreds of millions of dollars of investment and will increase their local production by 68%.

The company produces graphite electrodes used by steel product manufacturers to power their operations.

Governor Nikki Haley expressed her satisfaction with the development. “Any time a company comes to South Carolina, it’s always hope and excitement. When a company expands in South Carolina it’s a celebration,” she said yesterday, at a press conference for the expansion of the company.
