Freightliner Reinstate 628 Jobs In North Carolina Plants

More jobs are headed to North Carolina as Freightliner, a truck manufacturer, adds 628 new jobs between two plants.

447 manufacturing jobs and 27 administrative positions at its plant in Mount Holly where it manufactures Freightliner M2 Business Class medium-duty, hybrid, and natural gas trucks. Those jobs will be available Mid-March.

The plant in Gastonia will require 149 new manufacturing jobs as well as five administrative positions.

Since January 2010, the company has reinstated over 1,600 positions within the manufacturing network. The reinstatements and hires are a result of the increasing demand for the company’s trucks.

The company laid off 2,600 employees in 2009 and began reinstating them last July.
