It was reported today by the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation that the rate of unemployment in Nevada went down in March.  It went from 13.6 percent in February to 13.2 percent in March, which is good news for the Nevada residents that were unemployed and found employment in that time, and also is a good direction for the Nevada economy to be moving in.

In other great news for the state, employment in Las Vegas and the surrounding area saw an increase of more than 10,000 jobs in March.  This was also the first employment increase in more than 3 years that the area has seen.

In total, 1,114,400 Nevada residents are employed, which is up 10,000 from February.  Most of these new jobs came from the hospitality and leisure industry, with casinos and hotels reporting 1,900 more people employed than in February.  An additional 300 came from the construction industry, although overall construction employment in Nevada was down by 3,400 compared to this time last year.
