$76 million dollars will be invested by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency to help create jobs, boost local economy, and help contaminated properties. The EPA hopes to clean up industrial and commercial properties. Abandoned properties account for 450,000 that are contaminated. 214 grants have been approved for 40 states and three different tribes across the U.S. Economically disadvantaged neighborhoods are in the most need of help at this point. The EPA is using these grants to get these neighborhoods cleaner, healthier, and also to provide jobs for many people in these areas. The EPA is working to make everything cleaner.
