Many Casting Company Fees Done Away with in California

Casting agencies will no longer be able to squeeze cash-strapped TV and movie extras. Claiming adherence to state and local labor laws, California is forcing the casting companies to stop charging the actors special fees for placing them on a set. The Screen Actors Guild and the extras applaud this move to protect the actors’ slender resources. Minimum wage for an extra is $64 a day.
