Sears Holdings May be Moving from Illinois Company Headquarters and Taking Thousands of Jobs with it

The owner of Kmart and Sears, Sears Holdings Corporation is considering moving elsewhere in order to save costs.  Currently located in Hoffman Estates, which is a northwest suburb in Chicago, the company employs about 6,000 people.

In recent months, the government raised income tax for corporations by 46 percent, which made other states with lower corporate income tax rates more appealing.

Sears has been having financial struggles, losing $174 million this year in the first quarter of 2011.  If another city or state gives Sears a good offer, it may make the move to another area that has better rates to save itself money for the future.
